The weekend just gone

Last weekend, we took an extra day off and checked our doggies into the Hallam Kennels for their holiday. Because they get so little social interaction with other dogs normally (mainly because they attack others) I’m always curious to know how they go in the overstimulated playground environment. The carers nearly always say the same thing “Fergus was fine, and Chloe took awhile, but in 15 minutes she was running the show in there”. I want the Hallam Kennels to know that I would happily pay good money for footage of my dog getting along with others. It’s such a rare thing. Or maybe they just say that to most anxious owners to placate them. Anyhow, onto the holiday – it was oppressively hot when we arrived, but things turned wet and cold almost immediately – for the whole weekend. At the beach. I must have instinctively prepared for it because I took no bathers. I was intent on finishing a good chunk of book and sleeping in. Three other couples arrived with the kids in toe and we did the usual, (but good) routine of a pub meal on the Friday night, and a BBQ on Sat. I can’t say a lot more happened besides an Op Shop visit or two and a drive to Wonthaggi where we discovered a good secondhand bookshop. Oh, and a bakery visit that I swear I will not undertake next year. They need to clean their knives and forks properly! The dogs were a bit wild-eyed, and green-gooped but we got them home and pretty soon Chloe was patrolling the side fence sniffing for next door’s intruder dog as usual.
