A tidy yard

The fellow from the Greenery wound up his work in the backyard last week and dutifully brought around the bill one night to discuss the ups and downs of the costs, which were a fair whack. Considering the shambles that the yard was in twelve months ago, I’m very happy to have some usable space and garden plots to plant into, despite it looking overly architecturally severe right now. A trip to the tip yesterday and some rearrangement of pots and it’s all neat as a pin – awaiting our next move. But what to plant, and when – wait until the heat of summer is gone? There’s also the matter of the purchase of a bench seat for the corner and a fire/chimera/people attractor thingy for cool autumn nights when we have our multitutes of friends over to celebrate all the good things in life(?). Since waiting for ideas to come to us didn’t work very well last time, I’m thinking a rash decision down the Garden Centre this weekend might be just the thing for us. More photos to come I’m sure. newyard1.jpg
P.S We have a small water feature about which I’m torn between leaving it on all the time or just turning it on for special occasions. Power wastage. Grumble. Water going green. Grumble. Use it or lose it. Grumble. I’m convinced that we will oneday look back at the strange water feature fad days and laugh at the folly of it all. I’m already pissed off that no birds want to bathe in it. Nature is so disappointing sometimes.
