Riding (uncomfortably) again

The Tour is doing it’s usual motivation job on me, and inspired by Cadel Evans and Michael Rogers, I’m back on the bike this week (after a 3 month break), helped by better weather and a partner who wants to get back on track also. I’d forgotten how uncomfortable a road bike can be for a person whose back is as creaky as mine, so I’m taking it moderately until the body can strengthen and deal with it. On my first day, I went to walk down two flights of stairs to the changerooms and my knees nearly gave out on me – visions of a face plant onto the carpet. Today was better, the quads are not so jelly-like (thankyou NNW breeze this morning) and I’m raiding tonight, so getting home will be a non-issue, and I stand to benefit from natural endorphins that will calm me during nervous Moroes markups and pulls.
