Bloody Pianos

Well, after 3 or 4 weeks of scouring Ebay, I finally went and saw my first old piano tonight. I’d got to know a fella who lived pretty close by, who would sell, deliver and tune them as part of the deal, so when he said he had a couple ready for viewing, I was off. It didn’t really help that they were out in the back shed with very poor lighting, nor was I thrilled when I happened to spot him buying the very same piano for $250 last week on Ebay, and trying to sell it to me tonight for $870. I wouldn’t mind if he’d done a lot of work on it, but when I asked, he said he’d oiled and stained it, but it was pretty much like he got it. So, I think I’m going to pass on this model – it had lots of chips and cracks on the casing, but sounded quite good for it’s 80+ years. There seems to be 1 or 2 new ones added to Ebay each day, so I’ll keep looking. Mustn’t rush!
