Catchup time I suppose

I have fallen into Michael Dart’s trap of not writing anything for awhile, and now that I do feel like putting down a couple of words, it’s not enough to write a couple of lines – there’s a million things that need saying, to document the past 3 weeks. Of high priority is my beer update. The Stout has been just fantastic, and I’ve drunk about a third of the batch already. Since then, I’ve bottled some Nut Brown Ale and a Pilsner that appears highly dodgy at this stage. Most of my problems seem to have come at the stage where you add the XYZ booster kit to the mix. It supposedly adds a richer, deeper more complex flavour, but from my experiences, it never seems to disolve properly, leaving lots of GOOPY BITS in my beer tub. If you think Coopers has sediment, wait till you drink my recent batches. Kim is riding to work nowdays – in fact we ride together a good chunk of the way most mornings. She had two flats on two consecutive mornings in her third week and I could almost see her resolve disappearing, but we got it fixed, and now the weather is gorgeous! kim-rides-to-work.jpg We bought an old 1930’s hallstand (ebay) and a fairly hacked old desk (local shops), and suddenly there was no room for the big PC and monitor any more. So, I found the lovely, quiet Antec Aria and it sits like a glorified shoebox on the top, humming lightly. Looks just like this… antec.jpg The main reason I wanted to post today was I WON A LAST MINUTE BIDDING WAR ON EBAY in my lunch break at work. And bought a piano. Ironically, after seeing a few over the past month, I bought this one sight unseen, though I did speak to a piano tuner who had been over it recently, and was convinced it was in good shape for it’s age. To hire, they cost upwards of $82 a month, plus $180 for transport for 3 months, and even if you want to buy it after six months, it ends up costing you 3k. The pic of course.. piano.jpg Risotto rocks Kim’s world generally, so a couple of weeks ago, we went to a place at Southbank that’s famous for it – Tutto Bene. I walked out of there enjoying the meal, but craving some more of that Frozen Semifredo dessert. So, midweek I get a casual, “try this out”, and she’s made me a big icecream tub of the most wonderful coffee flavoured ice-cream imaginable. I wondered why I had to buy that small flask of Tia Maria last week at the shops. So, I’ll be dragging out the teaspoon in the coming nights to maximise that little pleasure. The last week has been lots of fun of an evening. Every few nights we upload entries of books into Ebay to sell and watch the bids come in. So far the biggest surprise was a set of three that didn’t get a single bid for $8 in a week. So we relisted them for $5 and it got bid up to $36. Strange things happen on Ebay. It brings out the voyeur in everyone. You look at who has bid for your item, and go through all the comments about them, and view what they’ve previously bought – almost without fail it is a set of fridge magnets, or some disposable razors for $4.75. That’s all for now. Work has me really busy, to the point I’m hardly even listening to music right now. Crickey!
